The People Behind the Bags

We are a handful of neighbors who decided to show up.

No big offices, no salaries — just a small team of volunteers who believe dignity is something you can pack into a backpack.

Rachel Cruikshank

Rachel Cruikshank

President and Founder

Rachel works as a Paralegal for The Eichholz Law Firm, where she helps people who have been injured navigate the legal system. Her love for helping those in need is how the idea for Angel Bags of Savannah came about. She and Jess have two children who love to be involved and help in any way they can. She is notorious for finding stray animals and bringing them home, much to Jess’ dismay.

Jess Cruikshank

Jess Cruikshank

Vice President and Co-Founder

Jess has lived in Savannah since 1997, and is a graduate of Benedictine Military School. He is a former police officer whose career spanned more than a decade and was spread across several agencies around Southeast Georgia. He is now a private investigator, husband, and father of two. Three if you include Hank. Which he does not.

Ken Margraff

Ken Margraff

Treasurer and Co-Founder

Originally from Pennsylvania, Ken and his wife now call Savannah home. He works as an Office Leader and Small Business Consultant with Pinnacle Financial Partners (Synovus), where he works with local businesses and entrepreneurs.

Outside of banking, Ken runs Cast Iron Savannah, a small cast iron consulting business focused on historical research, collecting, restoration, and events. He enjoys being involved in the Savannah community, preserving a little history along the way, and supporting organizations that make a difference locally.

Matt Fischer

Matt Fischer

Nadirah Lloyd

Nadirah Lloyd

Community Director

As a licensed therapist and proud Geechee woman born and raised in Savannah, I am deeply passionate about serving and uplifting the people and communities that call this city home. My work in mental health has taught me the importance of meeting people with compassion, dignity, and without judgment—values that closely align with the mission of Angel Bags of Savannah. I am honored to serve as a board member and to be part of an organization committed to making our unhoused neighbors feel seen, valued, and cared for. For me, this work is personal: it is about giving back to my community, honoring the spirit of Savannah, and helping create meaningful moments of hope and dignity, one person at a time.
